March is the golden season for picking spring tea leaves. Farmers in Hangtuo Village in Jishou City are now busy picking tea leaves.
“This year’s tea production has significantly increased compared to previous years, so tea growers must hire workers to pick tea leaves together. It’s now in the early stages of the tea picking season. With a selling price of about 200 yuan per kilogram, one person’s daily income can reach 400 yuan, which is quite considerable,” said a local villager.
Tea training courses have been held multiple times to teach scientific tea planting techniques and support local talents to establish tea factories. Now, two local tea factories have been established, committed to increasing farmers’ income and promoting the development of the tea industry.
“In the future, we will work to hold training sessions on invigorating tea through technology, invite agricultural experts to impart tea knowledge to villagers, and continue to promote the increase of revenue from tea. Meanwhile, with the existing industries, we will promote the integrated development of tea and tourism, and attract tourists to experience tea picking, tea stir frying and tea making techniques in Hangtuo Village, in a bid to make Hangtuo tea famous nationwide, increase villagers’ income and promote rural revitalization,” Xiang Shilian, first secretary of the village, said.
What’s more, Hangtuo Village plans to cooperate with the local tourism department to develop tea tourism projects, launch tea culture experience tour routes, and attract more tourists to experience the joy of tea picking, injecting new impetus into the local economic development, and boosting rural revitalization.
